RemoScreen Privacy Policy

Information processed for remote control, connection services, purchases and support, and the choices available to you.

On this page

1. Scope

This policy covers the RemoScreen Mac and iPad/iPhone apps. Operator and contact details appear at the end of this page. Connection services you add yourself are managed by their respective providers; ask those providers about their data practices.

The official registration service and official relay are hosted on Alibaba Cloud in Shanghai, China. The support mailbox is provided by Alibaba Cloud, and its emails are stored in Shanghai, China. Relays you add, Apple services and network discovery services are handled by their respective providers; the official server location does not mean all data is processed only in that region.

2. Device identity and local information

The app stores device identity keys, authorization certificates, saved computers, connection service settings, and language and appearance preferences on your device. These support device identification, secure connections and saved settings. Device names, public identities and network addresses are provided to connection services or authorized devices as needed to connect.

The app does not require you to submit a phone number, government ID or Apple Account password. Removing the app may not remove identity information stored in the system Keychain.

3. Remote session content

During a remote session, the app processes screen images, system audio, keyboard and mouse actions, clipboard content and selected files according to the features you use, and sends them to the other device in the session. Connections may be direct or forwarded through a relay you select.

Authorize only trusted devices and review the screen and files you share. Ending a session stops subsequent transmission but does not automatically delete files, clipboard content or screenshots already saved on the receiving device.

4. Connection information and usage metrics

Connection services process user and device identifiers, certificates, IP addresses, presence and connection messages needed for authentication and coordination. Session and relay usage reports may include session times, direct or relay paths, traffic, time to first frame, recovery counts and error status for connection management, metering and quality diagnostics.

These identities and usage records can be linked to each other; they are not anonymous user counts. For official services, diagnostic and error logs are retained for at most 30 days, and connection usage records for 120 days.

Resolved tickets and replies are retained for 180 days after the issue is resolved; reopened tickets remain under active handling. Account and device records remain until user deletion. Server backups containing user data are used only for recovery and are deleted on rotation under the backup service's retention rules. Minimal deletion records needed to prevent deleted accounts from returning through old backups or credentials are kept independently.

5. System permissions and voice input

Screen and system audio recording permission on the controlled Mac enables screen and audio transmission. Accessibility permission enables remote input. Local network permission supports device discovery and connections. You can manage permissions in system settings; withdrawing them makes the related features unavailable.

Voice input on iPad/iPhone requires microphone and speech recognition permissions. Apple speech recognition may send audio to Apple servers; recognized text is entered on the remote Mac. You can choose not to use this feature.

6. Purchases, trials and restoration

The iPad/iPhone app reads and verifies products, transaction identifiers, purchase dates and revocation status through Apple StoreKit to determine purchase or trial access, restore purchases and handle access changes after refunds. The App Store processes payment; the app does not request payment card details or your Apple Account password.

Purchase access is currently determined on iPad/iPhone from Apple transactions. If server-side transaction synchronization or new data uses are introduced, we will update the notice and seek consent where required.

Trial time verification sends a random challenge to the RemoScreen registration service, without account, device or purchase identifiers. The service receives the request’s IP address and basic network information. Lifetime access does not require this time check.

7. Update checks, registration and tickets

When the Mac checks for updates, it makes an HTTPS request to the release server. The server receives the IP address and basic network information accompanying that request. You can turn off automatic checks in Software update and check manually instead.

Before using in-app support tickets, you may register a name and contact email. Registration links your existing account identity, current device name and public identity, OS and app version, consent document revision and registration time. The email is supplied by you and is not currently a verified sign-in credential. Subsequent signed device requests update device records; approved pairing grants separately record the participating devices, authorization times and status.

Ticket subjects, categories, messages, linked devices, status, read state, replies and timestamps are stored in the same service database so you and authorized support staff can follow up. Screens, files and logs are not uploaded automatically. Do not include passwords, verification codes, pairing codes, server secrets or private keys. Until reliable country identification and server-side purchase verification are connected, those fields remain unknown or unverified; a user claim is not treated as a verified purchase.

You can also contact support using the email below. Screenshots or diagnostic files you choose to send may contain device, connection or personal information; review and redact unrelated details first. The support mailbox is provided by Alibaba Cloud, and its emails are stored in Shanghai, China. Emails and attachments are retained for at most 2 years after the issue is resolved, with earlier processing upon a deletion request.

8. Managing information and making requests

You can end sessions, remove saved computers or servers, revoke device authorization and change system permissions. Removing local settings does not mean a service provider has deleted server records, and does not remove files already received by another device.

Use the contact details below to request access, copies, correction or deletion of information, or to withdraw consent. We will verify the identity and authority needed for the request and explain the outcome. Administrators handle requests for services they operate independently. Information legally required to be retained should be limited to the relevant retention and protection purposes.

To delete your account, open Settings on the iPad/iPhone and choose “Delete account and data”. The app sends device-signed deletion requests to the relevant services. After processing, the service removes online records associated with the account, including registration details, device and pairing records, tickets and replies, and the app then erases the pairing identity on the device. Necessary account identifiers, deletion receipts and timestamps are retained separately to prevent deleted accounts from being restored through old backups or credentials. These linkable identifiers are not anonymous data.

9. Minors and policy changes

Minors should use remote control and purchase features with a guardian’s guidance and authorization. Contact us if you identify inappropriate processing of a minor’s information.

We will update this document and provide appropriate notice of important changes to data types, purposes, recipients or service arrangements. Updating this policy alone does not grant consent for processing that legally requires it.
